The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library has made an acquisition from Adam Matthew Publications, a scholarly publisher in England, which represents a significant increase in the total number of databases that it provides to its users.
The acquisition includes 44 electronic resources or modules (accessible through the University Library’s website at www.library.illinois.edu ). New resources include Jewish Life in America (c1654-1954); Rock and Roll, Counter Culture, Peace and Protest; Victorian Popular Culture; Slavery, Abolition and Social Justice; First World War: Personal Experiences; Eighteenth Century Journals; and many others.
Additionally, there are eight more titles slated for release later in 2013 that will be made available to Library users. These include The First World War: Propaganda and Recruitment; China, America and The Pacific; and Popular Culture in Britain and America, 1950-1975.
“Overall, these products represent a significant expansion of the electronic resources that we deliver, with particular relevance to our users in the humanities and area studies,” said Associate University Librarian for Collections and Technical Services and Assistant Dean of Libraries Tom Teper. “This acquisition is one way the Library ensures that our holdings continue to expose students and scholars to the richest collections possible.”
According to Global Studies Librarian Lynne Rudasill, “Access to these collections will provide students with resources that would not be possible otherwise. It offers the opportunity for them to be exposed to a depth of primary resources that will enrich their experience as students at our University.”
