Training for Groups

There are many trainings for groups in the Library.  Unit heads or supervisors can request group trainings.  ODT has a growing portfolio of trainings tailored for our organization, featuring Library speakers or external speakers who have partnered with us.  We can also help connect you with trainings available through campus or other organizations.

If you are interested in any of the trainings below, or a new training that is not listed, please email training@library.illinois.edu.

Teambuilding Topics

DiSC® Assessment and Workshop:  With advanced notice and scheduling, Zoe Revell can lead a workshop for Library units seeking to learn how to use this tool to help improve teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace.  A personal DiSC assessment is included for each participant, which is fee-based.

CliftonStrengths Assessment and Workshop:  The CliftonStrengths assessment helps people discover what they naturally do best and how to develop talents into strengths. Units can use this as an opportunity for increasing self-awareness, developing better teamwork, and finding ways to maximize everyone’s potential. The Illinois Leadership Center offers training and assessments for faculty & staff groups for a fee which includes the assessment.

Work Group Services:  Faculty/Staff Assistance Services can meet with work groups to discuss group dynamics, how to work together more effectively and problem solving skills.

Customer Service

GREAT Guidelines:  Whether we call our clientele “customers” or “patrons” or “users” or “colleagues,” we are dedicated to providing excellent service that satisfies or exceeds their expectations. These guidelines reflect the Library’s and University’s core values and are meant to be carried out within the framework of University, state, and federal laws. The GREAT guidelines are a foundation for training, delivery and assessment of Library customer service.  Materials and training can be provided to help your group provide GREAT customer service.

Consultations & other needs?

ODT can provide consultation if you are developing internal training for your unit, team, or other Library employees. Consultation can cover best practices for workplace learning, helping your materials and training be accessible for assistive technologies (screenreaders, etc.), and ideas for activities.

If you are interested in any of the trainings above, have suggestions for new training, or would like to arrange a consultation, please email training@library.illinois.edu.
