Robert E. Brown

Description

Credited with coining the phrase “world music,” Robert E. Brown was a musicologist who specialized in the music of Indonesia. He founded the ethnomusicology program at Wesleyan University and later taught at San Diego State University.

Robert Brown bequeathed his sizable collection of books, recordings, artifacts, and instruments to the University of Illinois in 2006.
