The University Library is committed to providing equitable access to information and maintains a variety of assistive software and hardware through our locations.
Software on Library Computers
All available computers in the library, regardless of which location are equipped with the following software programs:
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech): a computer screen reader and magnification program with text-to-speech reading capabilities.
- Kurzweil 3000: a text-to-speech reader for compatible files and e-texts that also functions as a document or image creator, annotator, and editor.
- ZoomText Magnifier/Reader: software that can enlarge, enhance, and read aloud screen content.
- OpenBook: software for converting graphics-based printed text to electronic text, using Optical Character Recognition, that contains two text-to-speech functions and allows for a split screen view and document annotation.
- Dolphin EasyReader: DAISY formatted electronic book reader.
- OpenDyslexie: a font that is loaded on all Microsoft products. OpenDyslexie font is designed to be easier to read for people with dyslexia.

Keyboards and Mice
- Boogiio Large Print keyboard is available from Grainger IDEA Lab, located on the basement floor of the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center.
- Perixx Ergonomic keyboard is available from the Grainger IDEA Lab, located on the basement floor of the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center.
- Kensington Expert Mouse Trackball is available from the Grainger IDEA Lab, located on the basement floor of the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center.
Light Therapy
Verliux Happy Light VT10 Compact Therapy Lights are available from the Media Commons (reservation information) on the third floor of the Main Library and the Orange Room (catalog record) on the first floor of the Main Library.
Description
A portable and compact UV-free full spectrum therapy light that provides white light at the equivalent of up to 10,000 lux. Use to boost energy, improve mood, regulate sleep, and enhance focus.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones
There are five pairs of SoundCoure Life Q30 Noise-Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones available in the Orange Room on the first floor of the Main Library. These items are available for short-term, 2-hour use.
Description
Noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones have additional noise-cancelling modes, equalizers, and soundscapes that can be accessed by using the Soundcore app. Noise-cancelling modes can be adjusted on the headphones via app, button, or touch. Built-in microphone for hands-free calls.
Includes headphones, USB-C charge cable, and 3.5mm audio cable.
Sensory Objects
- Fidget kits are available for checkout from the Media Commons (reservation information) on the third floor of the Main Library and the Orange Room (catalog record) on the first floor of the Main Library. Each kit contains a mesh and marble toy, floating color timer, twisty tangles toy, and stress ball.
- Twisty Tangles consists of curved plastic pieces that snap together to make a long chain or loop. Tangle can be squeezed, stretched, and bent into a variety of shapes. Assorted colors, approximately 14.5 inches long. Includes 18 chain pieces. Twisty Tangles are available in the Orange Room on the first floor of the Main Library for short-term, 2-hour use.
- Wacky Tracks consists of plastic pieces that snap together to make a long chain or loop. Track can be squeezed, stretched, and bent into a variety of shapes. Assorted colors, approximately 11 inches long. Includes 24 chain pieces.
- Water Wiggler is a classic water snake toy, contains plastic ribbons inside for extra texture. Assorted colors, approximately 2 x 5 inches. Water Wiggler is available in the Orange Room on the first floor of the Main Library for short-term, 2-hour use.
Vision Support
- Enchroma Indoor Universal Color Blind Glasses are available from the Media Commons on the third floor of the Main Library.
- Enchroma Outdoor Deutan Color Blind Glasses are available from the Media Commons on the third floor of the Main Library.
