The Slavic Reference Service provides year-round support for scholars working in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. While we are fortunate to receive partial funding from the government through the Title VIII Program, this support alone is not sufficient to cover the breadth of programming we offer.

Gifts to the SRS should be directed to the Mary Zirin Fund. Mary Fleming Zirin was a pioneer in Slavic and East European women’s studies. Working as an independent scholar, she amassed information and shared it generously with others, both informally and through her well-known publications, such as the Dictionary of Russian Women Writers (1994), Women & Gender in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Eurasia: A Comprehensive Bibliography (2007), and the Current Bibliography still regularly produced by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies.

Your gift to the Slavic Reference Service will:

  • Support workshops for graduate students and early career scholars, including the Dissertation Research Workshop and our Publishing in REEES workshops.
  • Sustain our year-round programming, including the Dmytro Shtohryn International Ukrainian Studies Conference and the Baltic, Caucasus, and Central Asia Research Forums.
  • Fund graduate assistants who help manage the large number of reference requests we receive.

How to Donate

Go to the Library’s Office of Advancement homepage, and select the “Make Your Gift” button at the top.

Select “Slavic and East European Library” under the dropdown menu. (Please note these are not in alphabetical order)

Fill out all necessary information on the second page; and under “Additional Information” make a note that this is for the Slavic Reference Service, for the Mary Zirin Fund.

We appreciate your support!
