See what books I have checked out and renew them

By Telephone

You can renew books over the telephone, although because of privacy issues we cannot tell you what books you have checked out over the phone. Our circulation department phone number is: (217) 333-3477. You can only renew books from UIUC libraries over the phone.

Online

To check your account and renew books online:

  1. Click on the My Account tab.
  2. Enter in the following information:
    ID Number - the 14 digit library borrower ID from your I-card card (a number that starts with 2011...)
    Last name
  3. Click Log in.
  4. If the system accepts your information, you will be taken to a page where you can see what books you have checked out, renew those you would like to keep longer, confirm the status of requests you have placed for items from other libraries, etc.
  5. Charged Items displays a list of items you have checked out.  To renew items, click the box to the left of the item. 
    Scroll down and click Renew. The page will reload and take note of the new due dates.

Note:
Certain books cannot be renewed. For more information, visit the main library renewals page .

Returned books from libraries other than UIUC may show up in your account for some time due to shipping delays. At peak return times (such as the end of the semester), even UIUC books may show up on your account for some time after you return them.
