Office of Web Technologies and Content Coordination
Web Technologies and Content Coordination (WTCC) is part of Reference, Research, and Scholarly Services. WTCC is staffed by Robert Slater (Web Technologies and Content Coordinator) and Camilla Fulton (Assistant Web Technologies and Content Coordinator). Our office is here to provide a central location for the discussion, coordination, and implementation of library web services and resources. Some of our primary duties include;
Providing training and support for the library CMS (Content Management System) and its associated authoring environment (tinyMCE).
Performing regular usability testing of the library gateway and web sites.
Maintaining the WCCT web site with the most recent news regarding the library web site and web services.
Working closely with the Office of Information Technology Planning and Policy and its related offices and programs to make the entire process of how the library web site is managed more transparent and participatory.
Do you need to create a new web site or web resources, or are you new to managing web content for your unit, and need help getting started?
If you would like to attend a training session, please use the registration links below. Registration is only required for OpenCMS training. Walk-ins are welcome for OpenCMS Open Sessions.
Web Technologies in use or development at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign Libraries
We are just beginning (as of Feburary 15, 2008) to systematically collect information about web technologies in use at your libraries. We are casting a very broad net with the term "web technologies"- basically if it is either software that creates content delivered on the web or a web service, drop me a line and let me know about it. Please feel free to email Robert Slater (rslater@illinois.edu) about any web technologies your library is using (or planning to use). If you'd rather add the information yourself, let us know that as well, and we'll send you an invite so that you can log in and edit this information yourself. This list is by no means exhaustive. If you are doing something new or unique that doesn't fit into this list, please let us know that too.
