Opening the Building on Weekends

If the Main Library is locked on nights or weekends when it is supposed to be open, call 3-1216 (the regular Campus Police Department number). Inform the person who answers the phone that O&M is required to open the doors. The police department has a list of the buildings that O&M opens. They will dispatch steam distribution to open the building. If they will not open the Building, have them contact Library Administration through the Library Emergency List for authorization.

For libraries in other buildings, as well ACES, Grainger, and Undergraduate, contact the Main Library Circulation desk for keys to get into the building. To have the main building outside door unlocked for access call 3-1216 (the regular Campus Police Department number). Inform the person who answers the phone that O&M is required to open the doors. If they will not open the Building have them contact Library Administration through the Library Emergency List for authorization. Because Grainger unlocks its own doors, it is not necessary for them to contact Campus Police.

Facilities Management will be contacted by the Library Office of Planning and Budgeting on the Friday prior to any Sunday that ends a holiday or interim period to remind them of Library hours for the upcoming Sunday.

In the case of being in the Main Library or any other building but locked out of your specific library unit, contact Main Library Circulation Desk. In the case of an individual locked in a building call, Campus Police at 3-1216.
