  1. Approve minutes from October 2Minutes were approved as amended with a motion from Nancy O’Brien, seconded by Heidi Imker.
  2. Question TimeThe feasibility of using a shredding service was discussed. Kim will check on the price and report back to EC.

    EC discussed the best way to promote faculty publications and presentations. It was determined the best way is to pull the information from faculty CVs. Kim will talk to Aneitre Johnson and Heather Murphy regarding the best way to do this.

    The Organizational Development and Training job description has been sent to Tom Teper. Mary Laskowski will join the search committee.

    Bill attended ARL. The discussions were based on libraries as an evolving research enterprise and how libraries are changing to meet those needs. There were also talks about the role of libraries in digital scholarship. Other libraries are looking at positions for visualization librarians and entrepreneur librarians. We are working directly with faculty and students on course collaboration. Bill has been working with faculty in the IDEA lab.

    Bill has been working closely with a group trying to put together a national cancer center in the new College of Medicine. NIH wants metrics data on publications. Bill’s group put together a database of publications, etc.

    There are no clear guidelines for next year’s budget, but we will start working on it in November, modeling a 2% cut.

    Search for a new provost continues. The last candidate is here this week.

    Web conversion is almost finished. Conversion of committee pages will be next.
