Minutes
1. Approve minutes from December 5
Minutes were approved by a motion from Kirstin Dougan, seconded by Harriett Green.
2. Question Time
Even though the Fair Labor Standards Act regarding the overtime threshold has been put on hold, the University is going ahead with its plan to increase the salaries of the individuals that would fall under that rule. The Library only has two people affected. This will not have great budgetary implications for the Library.
Sanctuary issue – The iSchool will send a letter in support of the sanctuary movement. We received strong messages from the Chancellor and the Provost regarding the University’s commitment to protect people on campus. We will protect the rights of all individuals.
The Library is considering a dual career position.
3. Paper Preparer
Preparers were chosen.
4. Emeritus request
An emeritus request was approved by a motion from Nancy O’Brien, seconded by Mary Laskowski.
Replace members on committees
EC suggested replacements.
6. Extension for Planning Group final report
Approved.
7. Emeritus faculty benefits – feedback
EC discussed the feedback. Nancy will incorporate the suggestions and bring back an updated document to EC. The document will include information outlining what Divisions need to do to request emeritus/emerita status for faculty who are retiring. Once completed, the final document will be posted to the EC standing policies page.
8. Position Description
EC has asked for additional information and will discuss this position once the information is made available.
9. Requesting emeritus status
See number 7, above.
10. Working Group on Teams to Support Research
There is another initiative similar to this one that will be coming to EC soon. EC will wait to look at both requests before determining how to proceed.
Approved an extension for the Digital Humanities and Interdisciplinary Scholars’ Collaboratory Strategy and Planning Group.
