Attendees: Mara Thacker (Vice-Chair), Peg Burnette, Joe Lenkart, Bill Maher, Dan Tracy, Kelli Trei, Chris Wiley.

 

Absent: John Wilkin (Chair)

 

The August 8 meeting was held in the absence of the Dean, and it was chaired by the Vice-Chair in accordance with Section 2.B.2 of the Library Bylaws. The meeting was used to advance discussion of proposals but deferred final decisions until the attendance of the University Librarian at a future meeting, in keeping with Section A of the Executive Committee’s charge and plans described in the minutes for the April 25, 2022 meeting.

 

  1. Updates to Hiring Policies
    1. The search liaison noted to EC that the Office of the Provost has posted an announcement on updates to the hiring process: https://blogs.illinois.edu/view/7559/1362668623
    2. Two key changes: unit hiring officers (for the library, the Dean) are now required to do the Diversity.edu training as well; if remote or hybrid options are available we should have it in the job ad.

  1. 2-2:30 AULs/Directors
  • Sara Holder and David Ward answered some follow up questions related to the Study Space report discussed previously on July 25. Two areas where there were outstanding         issues related to building security and shared staffing, and those have been passed on to the Main Library Operations group for further work. Broader questions about security guards or issues that may impact other units outside Main should go to AC as they arise in the future. Facilities is working on an updated BEAP plan for the Main Library building, and finalizing work on the Zoom teaching rooms, which should be available soon. The space report will be updated with missing information and sent to EC.
  • Chris Prom discussed a personnel issue with EC.
