  1. Question Time – The Dean updated EC on the following:

  • Dean Wilkin followed up with EC on the last Council of Deans Retreat with additional information about the campus strategic planning process. There is a call for nominations for people to serve on various committees, and the library sent forward several nominations. Dean Wilkin’s hope is that we will see the library well represented in the strategic planning process.
  • Academic Professional (AP) Audits – EC had very robust discussions regarding AP audits. Dean Wilkin explained the background of AP audits and how to stay in compliance with the Illinois State law that defines the State Universities Civil Service System. The law is the State Universities Self-Service Act, and it is very clear that all employees of all public universities are members of the State Universities Civil Service System except for some classes, and there are limited exceptions.
  • Piper Martin has been appointed an Assistant Clinical Professor.

  1. Position Description Discussion for Math/CS Librarian – EC had a robust discussion regarding the position description for the Math/CS Librarian.

  1. Discussion topics for AULs/Directors at EC on October 10, 222 – EC would like for the AULs/Directors to give their regular updates.

  1. Search Committee appointment for Visiting Assistant or Associate Archives and Literary Manuscript Specialist – This was tabled for a future EC meeting.

  1. 2:30-3:00 Co-chairs of LSSC and LCP
    1. Introduction of new officers: LSSC Co-chairs: Dulcie Vermillion and Karen Huck. LCP Co-Chairs: Megan Pearson and Janelle Sander.
    2. Discuss the LCIT proposal – There was some robust discussion on the LCIT proposal, including ways to clarify the final stages of the team’s work. Next steps were also discussed, and one outcome will be a brief LCIT update to LibNews sent from the EC Secretary. The discussion will be continued with the LSSC and LCP co-chairs at EC on Monday, October 24, 2022.
