Location: Room 101 Main Library 1408 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana
Supervisor: Dulcie Vermillion, Library Specialist- Circulation Supervisor
Number of Openings: 5-8
Hours per week anticipated: 4-12
Hourly Rate: 15.00
Anticipated Start Date: Summer 2026 (May 18,2026) and/ Fall 2026 (Aug 22 2026)
Schedule: schedules pre-established each semester- Summer 2026 assistants needed between the hours of M-F noon-6pm, Sa and Sunday 1pm-5pm. Fall 2027: M-Th 4pm-Midnight , F 4pm-6pm, SA 10am-5pm, SU 1pm-Midnight
Academic Term(s) of Employment anticipated: Summer/Fall 2026 with potential employment for consecutive terms.
Summary
Undergraduate student assistants in SSHEL staff the circulation desk-checking items in and out to patrons, shelving and shifting library materials.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Working the circulation desk: checking items in and out to patrons, aiding in wayfinding and answering basic questions for patrons-
- Shelving items and making sure items are in correct locations and in call number order within SSHEL
- Wrapping Dust Jackets on books
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled as an Undergraduate Student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for the Academic Terms of Employment listed above
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Reliability and timeliness for assigned shifts
