Use of Library Facility Space for Events
Procedure Statement:
The University Library provides Library faculty and staff with access to facilities in order to host educational and cultural events. Event space may be reserved to promote collaboration among Library faculty and staff with students and campus partners. For the purpose of this policy, “event space” includes (but is not limited to) hall floor and wall-mounted exhibit cases and fixtures, meeting rooms and certain open spaces located within Library facilities.
Library event space is reserved only for the use of events sponsored by Library faculty and staff. The Library welcomes exhibits that feature students’ work, however space must be booked by a faculty or staff member for any class project.
All use of event space must adhere to the following conditions:
- Press conferences may not be held on Library property
- Rallies are not permitted
- Blocking of entry ways and traffic pathways are not permitted
- Events must occur during regular Library hours of operation when the space is open to the public. Exceptions may be considered if there are extenuating circumstances, but must be approved by Library Administration, including the relevant AUL and Assistant Dean of Library for Facilities.
To schedule or reserve the use of Library event space, please complete an event checklist and attach to a Library Facilities ticket. Approval to use Library event space may by revised (with appropriate notice) based on changes to Library space needs.
