Description

As a research institution, the University Library strives to meet all of your research and scholarship needs. Interlibrary Loan service will borrow materials for you from libraries around the globe. We obtain research materials that are not available at the University of Illinois or through the I-Share system.

ILLiad is a resource managing system that allows you to place Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery requests 24 hours a day. You can track your requests for books, articles and DocExpress, the library’s document delivery service. You can even view and download electronically received articles.

When is this service available

ILL and Document Delivery requests may be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Items are processed during normal Library business hours.

Priority level for this service

Maintaining the ILL and DD services are a high priority for Library IT. We make every effort to resolve problems with this service as quickly as possible.
Widespread problems with ILL and Document Delivery are resolved as soon as possible.
Problems with individual item requests are dealt with during normal business hours by the Library’s Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery staff, email lending@library.illinois.edu.

How to report a problem

If the ILL or DD public interface is down or not responding, please log a ticket with the IT Help Desk or call the Help Desk at 244-4688. Incoming tickets and calls are reviewed and prioritized as they arrive between 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday. Tickets or calls coming in after hours are reviewed promptly on the next business day.

If it is outside normal business hours (8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday) and you believe there is a widespread outage, please call 244-4688 and leave a message with the Library IT Help Desk answering service (aka the AITS Service Desk). In an emergency situation the answering service will contact Library IT on-call support staff promptly.

If the ILL or DD public interface is running but you have a problem with a specific request, contact ILL/DD at lending@library.illinois.edu to report the problem.

If you are affiliated with the University your ILLiad account is set up automatically for you.

What you must have to use this service

To use Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery you must have a computer with an internet connection and a web browser.

Service Owners

IT Infrastructure Maintenance and Support hosts the servers and build/manage some of the underlying databases.

ILL/DD staff (lending@library.illinois.edu) manage individual requests and process orders as they are received.
