It has been common for materials being shipped as part of LC programs to be treated. This would include Asian, Slavic, Africana, and Latin American materials.
The University Library has no reported evidence of allergic reactions to such pesticides or treatments. However, it is possible that individuals may be susceptible to irritation caused by allergies to papers, inks, or the pesticides in question. Should such irritation be evident, the University Library will provide individuals with rubber gloves for their use. Dust masks will be made available upon request. Once provided, it is the responsibility of the individual to wear the protective equipment provided for their use.
