March 10, 2003 Meeting of User Education Committee

1. E*vents Workshop Sign-Up Software

Joe, Paul, and Lisa attended the software demo. The software will provide both a staff calendar and a public calendar for under $3000, and is user-friendly. The committee agreed that this would be an ideal system. Lisa will pursue purchasing the software and speak with John Weible to verify the software’s compatibility with library systems.

2. Statement on Learning Goals

The first draft of the statement could be the topic of a future User Education Luncheon. The committee reviewed the draft Statement on Learning Goals. The group offered suggestions regarding changes within the statement. The draft will now include a statement that defines the information literate individual. In addition, the statement will note both bibliographic resources and problem solving-skills. Lisa will revise the statement and send it to Committee members via email.

3. User Education Luncheon

The committee agreed that presenting the statement during a luncheon would be beneficial. The first User Education Luncheon of the year will be Monday, March 31st, 11:30-1:00. Paul and Lisa will lead the discussion.

Next Meeting: April 14 – Curriculum Mapping Activity

The next User Education Meeting will be held on Monday, April 14, at 9:00 in Room 428.
