1.     Kelli – instruction space working group/implementation group final report summary

Thew team updated a number of spaces, primarily ACES 509.  The space was upgraded to host 40 students, with updated displays, and should be ready for the beginning of Fall classes.  The Extron control box and Solstice units will be installed later in Fall.  Room 106 Main Library was updated to include a laptop cart for teaching.  The team also suggested video tutorials for teaching spaces as part of ongoing maintenance of the rooms.

Portable teaching kits were created, and are available for checkout from IT.  Zoom teaching spaces in ACES 505 and Main Library 427 are being outfitted currently.

For assessment, the team is looking to understand how often and what kind of teaching needs 106 and 509 are used for, as well as needs for online teaching.

The team also suggested video tutorials for teaching spaces as part of ongoing maintenance of the rooms.

Finally, training and access for booking conference and teaching rooms require some updates to policies, which the Administrative Council has been discussing with Library Facilities.

2.     Assessment planning discussion [Belinda]

Belinda reviewed the Assessment planner for instruction services.  The team discussed what research questions we wanted to answer. Possible questions/topics include:

  •  Impact on Students
  • Impact on Library instructors
  • Impact on Campus instructors
  • How will the new TLAS unit impact instruction?
  • Self-paced learning, and asynchronous

The team will look at prior studies on assessing space impact on learning.

3.     Definition of instruction updates [Lisa]

Will discuss in August.

4.     Updates on Core Competency Framework [David, Kristen, Peg]

The competencies document will be refined and used to develop an outline for a professional development program.  The scale of novice to expert might be refined in later drafts, with a professional development path outlined to bring individuals from Novice to expert.

The team will review the draft and make updates ahead of the August meeting.

  • Identify areas for cross-training, professional development, and collaboration on class design
  • Build an assessment/impact plan for FY23
