  1. Approval of March 7 minutes (see G:/Social Sciences Division/MINUTES/DRAFT Minutes).
    1. Minutes were approved as amended.
  1. Announcements and Discussion Items:
    1. Minutes were approved as amended
      1. The University Library currently does not have any specific policy on unattended items.  The division agreed that this issue need to be brought to the Administrative Council.  Lisa Romero agreed to propose this matter to the agenda for the next AC meeting.
    2. Collections Desiderata List:
      1. Tom Teper attended the meeting as a guest speaker.  He showed the template for Desiderata currently stored in the G drive.
      2. There were some discussion on the criteria for eligibility.  Some members felt that the minimum price to be eligible to be added to the list was too high (many databases cost much less).
      3. Regarding the template, a suggestion was made to create a column for one-time purchase and also for a recurring purchase.
      4. A question was asked:  How does Desiderata fit into our past practice which encouraged us to collect items that other institutions did not have and thus build specialized and unique collections?  Tom answered that Desiderata would help us purchase items available to other institutions but not widely purchased.
      5. In order to obtain pricing information, Tom suggested that librarians would need to contact either customer representatives and/or ertech at the library.  (Note:  Tom sent a message via email next day to the division with correct information.  He wrote that librarians should get the pricing directly from the reps and fill out an order form but specify “DO NOT ORDER” until price quote approved.)
      6. Tom also reviewed the use of A&I databases and shared the usage report.  The report showed the list of databases with cost per usage and shared that the usage of A&I databases was going down rapidly.
      7. A question was raised:  when a subject specialist cancels a database, the money goes to the central pool for collection and consequently, the subject specialist is left with less money to spend for monographs.  CDC was asked to review this issue.
  2. Reports
    1. The division agreed that committee representatives would send out reports via email.

The meeting adjourned at 11:00 pm.
