Minutes

  1. Approval of May minutes (taken by Susan)
    • Approved
  2. ALMA updates, concerns (all)
    • Lucy: call slips are time consuming, figuring out who the patron is etc, however, there are positives too. It will just take time to figure things out.
    • Erik: difficult at times to troubleshoot (catalog problem or larger etc) but overall we are moving forward relatively well.
    • JAL vs other options (Susan/Kelli):
      • Some GAs find it more useful than easy search
      • Points to publisher, if we do not have it, we hit paywall (or have through an aggregator)
      • ISSN issues, dead links, etc
      • Please play with JAL and we will compile a list of questions and Kelli can share with Jay and other former members of e-resources working group. Send Kelli thoughts by Friday.
      • WordPress shortcode: finds full-text PDF if have it, using JAL
        • On prairie page if anyone wants to test it.
  3. Update on office building project (Sarah)
    • There is a sign-in log outside of construction area, last work was likely July 2. Thursday or Friday this week campus tech are supposed to be in to test technology.
  4. Update on back to work plans (Sarah)
    • Next week is week six: then staff will ramp up to full days, but only certain days (rotating schedule) with at least one day of remote work. This current plan takes us through the end of July. Sarah has draft schedule and will share schedule next week. Sarah’s big question is are their staffing expectations that are different, what about graduate assistants? So far it seems it is up to us, based on John’s response in the divisional meeting with Kelli.
    • What about nights? No plan to staff evening, perhaps staggering folks to keep space in building.
  5. Desk-Tracker Changes, thoughts and opinions (Kelli)
    • Are people using room reservations related to this, as well as consultation scheduler, should be separate if want both options?
    • Confusion about what people enter, some have dates? Some names?
    • Sarah: “What is it we want to track?” Could be useful to leave the radio button but without text box, and track how many things are scheduled in advance. Also, if you want to track what consultation spaces people are using perhaps near the “in person” option in desktracker there could be a textbox for consultation space (e.g. 106, 206 Funk ACES)
    • Susan: if they are trying to get at libcal info, they can use libcal for that data.
  6. Collection Statements Discussion (Susan)
    • Susan will set up meetings for Fund Managers and Kelli will set agenda. Janis will attend for ACDC special collection statement. Additionally, we will have larger conversation about material counts and how we share the immensity of our collection.
  7. Committee assignments and reports – AC, CDC, others
    • RMT:
      • Still working on Hub schedule for fall semester
      • Finalizing Grad Student Training schedule, but it will occur via Zoom August 17, 18, 1/2 day 19th.
    • Scholarly commons search committee: job posted but salary range was lower than they expected, John said the floor should have be all was listed, and it has yet to be corrected.
    • CDC:
      • No official news on 2021 budget.
      • Sarah will take our thoughts back on video streaming to CDC.
      • Sarah brought up Reserves information: no current known University plan for VitalSource & RedShelf
    • Electronic resources librarian job went live, closing date is August 21.
    • Undergraduate teaching and learning job:
      • Full day interviews to occur in next few weeks
    • Outreach and Engagement Task Force: finalizing report for EC, due July 15th.
  1. Round Table
    • Kelli plans to buy print versions of electronic reserves to have on hand in case need to scan. I don’t want to confuse any patrons by putting them into the catalog but I want us to have them to scan, this will be a secondary plan, I am not doing this until I get regular reserves in hand.
    • Sarah is trying to go through these boxes from the fifth floor, some uncatalogued information, information referencing donors, floppy discs.
    • Janis started working with Emily, Courtney, and Sammi on digital exhibit to be completed by end of month.
      • Professor Evans says hello to everyone, and Janis and Professor Evans have monthly meetings to brainstorm.
      • Emily and Courtney will meet virtually with new GA at end of July.
      • Clarissa taking on social media solo right now.
      • Courtney has shared some facilities folks are not always wearing masks on 5th floor.
      • Peg shared that the new medical student class started last week. It has been very busy.
      • Erin met virtually with facilities and IT. Vet Med library remaining closed for summer, currently no self-check machines that function. They did not know when self-check will be functional again. Because of all this it may remain closed in the Fall. Grace will be in occasionally to help with shifting materials while space is closed.
  1. Adjourn
