Spaces Speak Webinar Now Online

First slide of "Spaces Speak" presentation, featuring a female vocalist and flyer for a local music venue.

Last week, Director and Archivist for Music and Fine Arts for the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music, Scott Schwartz, and Dr. Nolan Vallier, lecturer in the School of Music and an assistant at the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music, enjoyed an opportunity to share more information about the Sousa Archive’s latest exhibit: “Spaces Speak.” They presented for the Library Friends webinar series, sharing recordings, photographs, and information on some of the spaces and performers featured in this exhibit. If you missed this opportunity, you can now find the webinar (and slides) here.

For those who were able to join us, thank you for tuning in! We hope everyone takes the opportunity to come see the exhibit in person, where you can explore C-U’s diverse performance spaces—Mabels, Huff Gym, the Red Lion, Nature’s Table, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Chances R, Parkland College, the Red Herring, Foellinger Auditorium, the Iron Post, Memorial Stadium, Smith Music Hall, the Rose Bowl,  Altgeld Hall, the Canopy Club,  the State Farm Center, and the Virginia Theatre—through a selection of photographers, flyers, audio recordings, and other items documenting our local community’s unique musical spaces.
