American Music Month 2019 Kicks Off

The 2019 Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival kicks off again this year’s American Music Month programming with a broad range of traditional and old-time music that is sure to please listeners of all ages.  The diverse music ensembles include such groups as Ayodele Drum and Dance, The Black-Eyed Susans, Cajun Cornstalkers, The Gaslight Squares, Humbird, Knights of Cabiria, The Matchsellers, Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra, The Steel City Jug Slammers, and The Young and the Fretless.  This year’s local, regional, and national music celebrities include Candy Foster, Maria Carrelli, and Grammy Award Winner and two-time Emmy nominee, Dom Flemons.

The children’s programming on October 26th, is sponsored by the Sousa Archives and includes Morning Music with Robin Kearton, Mr. Stephens Magic and Music, Lil’ Folkers Puppet Party with Miss Hannah Rae, and the Musical Mayhem Parade.  This programming will take place at Urbana’s Community Center for the Arts.  For a complete schedule of this year’s programming visit C-U Folk and Roots Festival.
