The Eddie Barbash and KASA Quartets will kick off this year’s Folk & Roots Festival, starting at 5pm at the University of Illinois’ Music and Performing Arts Library (MPAL). So, if you’re looking for exciting music that will keep your feet dancing and bodies grooving or if you are just ending a busy workday filled with too many meetings, then stop by MPAL this afternoon. Yes, we said dancing in the music library stacks. Who would have thought or dared!
The performance will run from 5:00pm to 6:30pm and will be free and open to everyone. There will be plenty of room for dancing and if the moment entices you, feel free to shake your booty! The groups will perform several new arrangements that they just recorded, so this isn’t going to be your grandparent’s old-timey music show. Stop by MPAL after work to start your Folk & Roots experience. If you like what you hear, then dance your way to the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for a continuation of great music with Dennis Stroughmatt & Creole Stomp beginning at 7:00pm.
For further information about the MPAL performance email Kate Lambaria at lambari1@illinois.edu or the Sousa guy at schwrtzs@illinois.edu. For further information about this weekend’s Folk & Roots programming, visit https://folkandroots.org/.
Hope you can join us for this year’s Folk & Roots adventure.
