308 and 314 PC: Hardware/Software

The following list describes the software and computer features available in room 314 Main Library.  Room 308 Main has the same software load as the 314 Main Instructor computer.

Instructors - Please make sure to test any application(s) you plan to use for instruction at least a few weeks prior to your instruction.  If there are application problems, then please submit an OTRS ticket.  Remember any software updates are done annually at the beginning of the summer and need to go through Scholarly Commons.

Instructional Area, Room 314

  • Instructor computer
    • 2 USB ports on the front bottom of the monitor within the speaker bar
    • USB phone, only works when logged into the computer
    • Webcam
  • Projector, ceiling mounted
  • Document camera/transparency projector
  • Laptop connection to the projector, VGA cable only

Other Room 314 Features

  • 1 instructor computer
  • 15 student computers
  • Wireless
  • Central collaboration table with 11 seats, but no computers
  • Banked lighting switch at the front of the room only, opposite the instructional area by the east entrance door

Software - Summer 2017 update in progress for 308 and 306; room 314 Main is complete

NOTE:  Some of the software listed is only available on the instructor computer.  Room 308 Main has the same software as the 314 Main Instructor computer.

Upon request software updates are done annually at the beginning of the summer.  Room 314 and 308 Main software and/or updates go through the Scholarly Commons staff that manage these rooms, please email sc@library.illinois.edu.

Windows 10 note - at times applications are arranged slightly different in the start menu compared to Windows 7.  If you have problems finding an application, then type in the application name within the Search Windows bar located next to the start menu, bottom left corner of the screen.
