The service desk can circulate items that were previously requested for pick-up at Oak Street Library, accept returned items from any I-Share library, assist patrons in requesting materials from any I-Share library, and provide general information about the University Library. However, we are not able to provide full reference service.

The reading room provides a space for patrons to use Library materials, especially those housed in Oak Street High Density Storage. This is particularly useful when a patron needs to consult a large number of books, such as multi-volume sets. Unless materials are building-use only, patrons can take items home. Alternatively, they can request that items be set aside for them to use on following days. Besides tables for research and quiet study, the reading room has three public computers connected to scanners and a printer.

Oak Street High Density Storage provides temperature and humidity-controlled storage for over four million items, primarily those with low-circulation histories. Because of the special storage conditions, it is not possible for patrons to browse the shelves. If you’d like to see the storage facility, please see our Tour Information page.
