Where to find local and regional information

Locating local and regional information can be challenging, as this information may not be included in the databases we often rely on when beginning our research. The sources included on this page contain local and regional sources and will help you search for and locate information included in these sources.

Additional campus information is included in both the University Archives and the Student Life and Culture Center.

Local and Regional Newspapers

The following database links provide access to local and regional newspapers.

Access World News 

To search other Illinois newspapers via Access World News:

  1. Enter Access World News
  2. Click on North America
  3. Click on United States
  4. Click on Illinois
  5. Select desired newspapers to search by checking the boxes to the left of the newspaper titles

 

College Newspapers

Campus papers are included in Lexis-Nexis. To access the Daily Illini:

  1. Enter Lexis-Nexis
  2. Select Power Search on the left.
  3. Enter your subject and "daily illini" in Search terms
    For example:  soybeans and "daily illini"
  4. Select University Wire from the Sources
  5. Specify Date, if desired
  6. Click Search

To search other campus newspapers, follow the above instructions and enter the campus or newspaper name and topic. You may also search all University Wire sources simultaneously by simply entering a topic.
