Busts in the Classics Library

University of Illinois Library

These busts are plaster casts of original art pieces in various locations in Europe. Most, if not all, were a part of what is described as Gregory's Fine Arts Gallery. John Milton Gregory founded the Fine Arts Gallery in 1875. It was moved to the Library's west basement in 1897. Eventually, the remainder of the collection was dispersed to different buildings on campus, including the bust you see here. They are located in the Classics Library in 419A Library.
