Newton Alonzo Wells painted this portrait of Thomas Jonathan Burrill in 1899. Burrill was a Professor of Botany from 1868-1912, University Vice President 1879-1912, Acting Regent 1891-1894, and Dean of the Graduate School 1894-1905. The portrait is oil on canvas, 30" by 25". It is located in the Marshall Gallery at the East Entrance.
