Main Library Loanable Technology – Student Hourly (Fall)

Duties include assisting patrons with loanable technology equipment bookings, check outs and returns, answering patron questions, providing staffing support for room 220, assisting with media spaces, basic technology troubleshooting, collection maintenance, and other tasks as needed by the department.

Student Assistants (SAs) at the Main Library Loanable Technology department work no more than 8 hours per day. For shifts longer than 5 hours in a row, a 30-minute unpaid break is required. A 15-minute paid break may be taken for shifts of 4-5 hours in a row.

The Main Library Loanable Technology Department is located on the third floor in room 306 in the Main Library

Employment Start Date: August 26th, 2024 (first day of classes). New hires are required to attend orientation and training with the student assistant supervisor before beginning work

Hourly Pay: $14.00/HR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills; must be reliable with keeping scheduled shifts; must be able to adapt to quickly changing work environment and duties; must be able to focus on details and accuracy when working with equipment and checking in and out the materials; and must be able to keep current on new policies and procedures to the unit. Must be able to learn and use loanable technology circulation software and websites related to loaning technology. Must be able to lift and hold up to 10 lbs above shoulder height for purposes of retrieving and shelving items.

Additional details: Our fall hours will be 10am-8pm Mon-Thurs, Fri 10am-6pm and Sunday 2pm-8pm. Availability on Sundays and in the evenings is especially important. We look for students who are flexible and willing to work as a team and cover for each other.
