Printing, Scanning & Microforms

You can find a list of MPAL’s printers, scanners, and microform viewers below. If you need large format (11 X 17) printers or specialized scanners, refer to the Library’s pages on Library Printers and Scanning and Copying for a list of equipment available at other campus libraries.

Printing

MPAL has two black & white printers and one color printer. You can print from a library desktop or a mobile or laptop device, but please note that double-sided printing is only possible from a library desktop.

For instructions, see Printing from a Library Computer and Printing from a Mobile Device. If you need more help, ask at the service desk!

Scanning

Scanning at the Library is free, though printing is not. MPAL scanners are available throughout the Library. You can scan material and email it to yourself or save it to a flashdrive for free, or pay to print out your material according to the fee schedule listed on the right.

MPAL has the following scanners:

  • Flatbed scanners: 3 on the first floor (2 require log-in), 1 on the second floor
  • Large-scale flatbed scanner: 1 on the first floor (requires log-in)
  • Overhead scanner: 1 on the first floor

Costs

Black & White: $0.10/page

Color: $0.40/page

Microforms

There is a digital microfilm viewing station available in the computer area on the first floor. It allows digitization of microfilm, microfiche, and microcards, which can then be emailed or saved to a flashdrive. Need help using the machine?
