Description
Scores and editions of contemporary music from the personal library of Savlatore Martirano (1927-1995), composition faculty member at the University of Illinois from 1963-1995. Sal specialized in electronic music and invented the SAL-MAR Construction.
Many scores are works by former University of Illinois students and School of Music faculty. Additional Martirano scores were donated to Sousa Archives and Center for American Music, with some titles added to MPAL. acquired in December 1982 and July 1993; second donation from Martirano’s family 2025.
