The Lecture promotes the work of international professionals, scholars or educators in library and information science or other fields of intellectual affinity. The 1st Annual Distinguished Lecture on “The Electronic Erosion of Democracy” was delivered by James H. Billington, Librarian of Congress on September 10, 1990. It has been presented in hybrid mode, since 2015, with the exception of online-only presentations n 2020 and 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Either the text or recordings of the Lectures are available.
