Page Stubbing

Procedure:

Stubbing in Replacement Pages

With any repair, it is desirable to keep the original pages intact and in their binding. This is a challenge when entire pages need to be replaced.

We can use a "stubbing in" technique to replace old pages with new ones if:
there are ample margins on the gutter edge of the pages; and
the replacement pages exactly correspond in number and text alignment with the original pages.

First, the original pages are carefully removed, as shown above and below.

Placing a scrap of board beneath each page prevents subsequent pages from being inadvertently sliced into.
