Proper Shelving Habits

Page 1 of 6

Proper shelving and storage of books and papers is a key to preserving their good condition. Stand books vertically, on their bottom edges, whenever possible. Leave about a 3/8" space between each book so they can be easily removed from the shelf.

A Good Example of Shelving

If books are placed on their fore edges, as shown in the photo above, the text block will sag away from the binding over time.
