Overview

The Student Life and Culture Archives welcomes all visitors!  No matter what material you are interested in, we are here to assist you!.  Past researchers have included students working on course papers, family historians looking for information about ancestors, aspiring fraternity members learning about their organizations, and many more!

You don’t need to be affiliated with the University of Illinois, or any other institution of higher education, to visit us.

We are located in the historic Horticulture Field Laboratory, located southeast of the main campus of the University of Illinois.  Our address is:

Before Your Visit

  • Please try and let us know in advance of your visit! We are more than happy to assist walk-in patrons; however, advance notice ensures we can arrange the best use of our space and retrieve collection materials.
  • To view a floorplan of our building that identifies accessible spaces and entrances, click here.
  • There is metered parking on the north side of the building, and accessible metered parking on the west side.  Users will need to download the MobileMeter parking app.  Further details are available on the Parking Department’s website.
  • We are open from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and 1:00PM to 5:00PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and 1:00PM to 5:00PM on Wednesdays.

Bus Stops

The Orchard Downs North Shelter is right next to the Horticulture Field Laboratory, and is served by the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District.  Check their schedule for more information!
