March 2026 Library Pulse Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent pulse survey on emergency preparedness that closed on March 18, 2026.

We received 118 responses, representing a 42% response rate from current Library faculty, civil service, and academic professionals.

March Survey Questions:

Question 1: How prepared do you feel to respond to an emergency in the Library (such as a tornado, flood, medical emergency, or similar situation)?

Respondents answered the following ways to the Q1 radio button question:

  • Very prepared – 19% (23 responses)
  • Moderately prepared – 61% (72 responses)
  • Slightly prepared – 12% (14 responses)
  • Not at all prepared – 5% (6 responses)
  • I work remotely full-time – 3% (3 responses)

The following chart shows a visual breakdown of the Question 1 responses.

The survey ended after question 1 for the three respondents who indicated they worked remotely full-time. The remaining 115 respondents were presented with a second question.

Question 2: How recently have you taken training or reviewed documentation related to emergency preparedness at the Library?

  • Within the past month – 19% (22 responses)
  • Within the past 6 months – 16% (18 responses)
  • Over the past year – 27% (31 responses)
  • Over a year ago – 31% (36 responses)
  • Never, or cannot recall – 7% (8 responses)

The following chart shows a visual breakdown of the Question 2 responses.

This data has also been visualized as a heat map based on how respondents answered Question 1 and Question 2.

Two observations based on the data are:

  1. Many feel moderately prepared even if the training was over a year ago.
  2. Even though some were trained recently (within the past month), it didn’t necessarily translate to feeling Very Prepared

This feedback can help guide future conversations and planning for emergency preparedness. Further updates will be shared on this page.

Thank you again for your thoughtful input and engagement!
