Public Computers and Software
- The Undergrad Library maintains several PC computers for walk-up computing.
- Each have internet browsers and have
this Microsoft Office
software installed.
- All Library PCs print to the printers by the Circulation and Reserves desk at the front of the
upper level.
- Additionally, we have several Macs available on the north side of the upper level of the
Undergrad. For a list of MAC software please
click
here. The MAC computers require a UIUC login. They print to the CITES lab in the
corner.
- The CITES Lab has
this type of computer. The CITES website has more information on
Hours and
Locations for all campus computer labs.
Loanable Laptops and Associated Hardware
Library Printing
- All Undergraduate Library computers print to the same printers, located in front of the
circulation and reference desks on the upper level.
- Students can print from their
own laptops to
library printers using library software downloaded
here for Windows 2000 and XP or
here for Windows Vista.
- Mac OSX version 10.5 (Tiger) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) are also supported
here.
Please be aware that you will still need to log in to the Web Print Release to pay for your print
job
here:
- Black and White Printing is $0.10 a page, color printing costs vary based on how much color is
in the document being printed. There is also a
Library
Printing FAQ available for questions/problems with printing.
- Patrons can also set up
Pre-paid
Accounts.
- The CITES lab uses their own printers, and color printing is not currently available
there.
Refunds
- Pay Cash:
If a print job does not print via "pay cash" after a UGL employee has pushed the "print"
button, try resending the print job from the original computer. If this can't be done, library
staff will call the IT office, give them the job number next to the unprinted print job, and will
try to resend the job.
- Net-Id Payment:
Patrons can log back into the libprint software (they can just print any page to get back
there). There will be a link next to all documents previously printed to Report a Problem and
request credit for a job.
Scanning
- There are 6 scanners attached to computers throughout the upper level. Ask at the
Reference Desk for locations.
- Book Scan Station. A walk up scanner is available to use with a
jump drive. It is located near the
browsing area on the upper level. See more information
