Borrowing Supplies

To borrow exhibition supplies, please request keys for the exhibition supply cabinet from the Preservation office in room 425 Library. The supply cabinet is located in Room 421A. You will be provided with keys to room 421A, the exhibit supply cabinet, and the exhibit cases. Please return all keys promptly once you have finished.

Funding for Exhibitions

Limited financial support for mounting exhibitions (usually no more than $200 per exhibition) is available through the generous support of Dr. C. Barber Mueller and the Mueller Display Case Fund. Color and large-scale printing, display equipment, and exhibition supplies not currently offered through the Library may be funded through the Mueller Fund. All reimbursement requests for exhibition expenses must be accompanied by an original receipt. All supplies or equipment purchased with these funds are property of the Library and must be turned in to the Committee   upon the completion of the exhibition.

Read this  Friendscript article about Dr. C. Barber Mueller's generous donation and his desire to honor the five University of Illinois zoology and chemistry professors who had a profound influence on his career during his undergraduate studies on our campus.

To find out more about funding for exhibitions, or to inquire about a reimbursement, please contact the  Exhibitions Committee.

Help with Exhibits

The Conservation Unit of the Library offers a number of services to assist in the preparation of exhibitions, such as creating book cradles and window mats, and encapsulating photographs and single sheets of paper. To ensure that adequate time and planning can be devoted to exhibit preparations, exhibitors requesting these services should adhere to the following guidelines:

All materials requiring custom exhibit preparation, including encapsulation, should be delivered to the Conservation Lab a minimum of two full weeks before the exhibition is to be mounted. Any special considerations (such as case size limitations, unusual mount designs) must be laid out clearly at the time of delivery in consultation with Conservation staff.

Additional time will be required if more than ten items must be prepared.
