To borrow exhibition supplies, please request keys for the exhibition supply cabinet from the secretary in Room 230 (8:00am to 4:45pm), Main Library. The cabinet is located in the basement hallway near Acquisitions and is marked with a large sign. Please return all keys promptly once you have finished.
Limited financial support for mounting exhibitions (usually no more than $100 per exhibition) is available through the generous support of Dr. C. Barber Mueller through the Mueller Display Case Fund. Color and large-scale printing, display equipment, and exhibition supplies not currently offered through the Library may be funded through the Mueller Fund. All reimbursements for exhibition expenses must be accompanied by an original receipt. All supplies or equipment purchased with these funds are property of the Library and must be turned in to the Chair of the Exhibitions Committee upon the completion of the exhibition.
Read this Friendscript article about Dr. C. Barber Mueller's generous donation and his desire to honor the five University of Illinois zoology and chemistry professors who had a profound influence on his career during his undergraduate studies on our campus.
To find out more about funding for exhibitions, or to inquire about a reimbursement, please contact the Chair of the Exhibitions Committee.
The Conservation Unit of the Library offers a number of services to assist in the preparation of exhibitions, such as creating book cradles and window mats, and encapsulating photographs and single sheets of paper. To ensure that adequate time and planning can be devoted to exhibit preparations, exhibitors requesting these services should adhere to the following guidelines:
All materials requiring custom exhibit preparation, including encapsulation, should be delivered to the Conservation Lab a minimum of two full weeks before the exhibition is to be mounted. Any special considerations (such as case size limitations, unusual mount designs) must be laid out clearly at the time of delivery in consultation with Conservation staff.
Additional time will be required if more than ten items must be prepared.
