    New Student Tours

    Take a tour of the Main and Undergraduate Libraries! During the tour, attendees will visit departmental libraries and the 'stacks' as well as take a walk through the tunnel to the Undergraduate Library. The session will last about 50 minutes. New Student Tours are offered at the beginning of each semester. Meet in the Marshall Gallery, on the first floor near the east entrance. No registration necessary.     Multilingual Tours

    The Library is once again holding multilingual tours of the library in multiple languages. Experienced library staff offer tours in several languages. Learn about the library, its services, and our collections in your language! To schedule a tour, please email elove@illinois.edu or drop-in and meet in the Marshall Gallery. All tours will meet in the Marshall Gallery, Main Library.

    Self-Guided Audio Tours

    Audio tours of the Main and Undergraduate Libraries are available at the Information Desk on the second floor of the Main Library or at the Undergraduate Library Information Services Desk. The mp3 players may be charged out by university students, faculty, and staff with a University ID. All others who wish to take this tour must leave a driver's license or other form of identification. The self-guided tours are designed for use by individuals. For more information, please contact the Reference Department at 217-333-2290. 

    To arrange group tours:

    • For faculty and Teaching Assistants who would like to request a tour of the Main Library for their class, please contact Merinda Hensley, Instructional Services Librarian, or call 217-244-1880.
    • Tours of the Main Stacks, please contact Mary Burkee, Central Access services/Bookstacks at burkee@illinois.edu. Please allow two weeks planning time.
    • Tours of the library for community or alumni groups may be arranged by calling the Library Friends Office at 217-333-5682.
    • School groups wishing to tour the library should contact Susan Avery, Coordinator of Instructional Services in the Undergraduate Library, 217-244-3769.
