Provenance: Acquired from Beauchamp, 12 April 1957. -- Formerly housed in a cardboard folder (removed to item folder) with two shipping labels: the first from Evans Brothers Ltd. addressed to Miss A. Jennings in Chichester, Sussex; the second laid-over the first and addressed to Arthur Koestler Esq. 8 Montpellier Square.

Manuscript foliation in upper left corner of recto leaves beginning on fol. 1r (corrected in pencil up to fol. 84 by a later hand).

Fol. 4 lacks lower portion of leaf; text appears unaffected. -- Fols. 19 and 33 are half-sheets. -- Fols. 25-26 at one time made up a single leaf (ripped in half by author).
Fol. 85 is a typescript sheet. -- Fol. 86r has MS foliation jump to 198 (from 63 on fol. 84r - some leaves missing?).
