This collection brings together a number of scrapbooks and albums of clippings relating to Abraham Lincoln. The collectors of these materials usually did not note the particular newspaper in which each item appeared or its exact date. Similarly, they usually did not limit themselves to particular topics but rather clipped and saved a wide variety of Lincoln items.
What follows is an incomplete list of individuals who collected the various lots:
Anon., "Paper Cuttings about Lincoln, Grant, etc," about 1870s-1890s, bound in one volume and formerly cataloged 973.7 P197.
Beekman, Colby. Clippings, about 1904-1929, on both sides of some 27 pages, preserved by Dorothy Golden of Petersburg, Ill., and given to the Library in 2001 by Vincent Golden of Worcester, Mass.
Stickler, Lee. Clippings, 1961-1965. This file, and also a bronze casting of the Lincoln life mask by Clark Mills, was donated to the University of Illinois in 2000. The University of Illinois Foundation deposited the mask in the Spurlock Museum (2000.03.0001), and transferred the clippings to the Library.
For other lots for which there are separate entries in this database, see Lorraine Martin, Matthew Henry Peters, and Springfield (Mass.) Republican.
