The two letters in this collection are typescripts of the originals in the Edward D. Neill Papers at the Minnesota Historical Society. On June 8, 1848, J. G. Nattinger invited Neill to be minister of the Presbyterian church in Ottawa, Ill. On Nov. 7, 1848, Robert W. Patterson wrote Neill regarding Presbyterian theology and the state of the Presbyterian Church in northern Illinois.
