Scope and Contents: This volume served as both a record book for School District No. 4 and as "David Bierbower's Day Book."  Bierbower of Saybrook, Ill., was clerk of the Board of Directors of Martin Township School.  The volume includes records of the elections of directors of the school district, plans for levying taxes to support the school, and accounts for building and maintenance purposes.  Other items include vouchers, a treasurer's statement (by Bierbower), and notes.  Bierbower's personal accounts record goods he bought and sold.
