UGL 291 (and 289 Instructor Computer)

Below are some details about the computers and technology in the instructional classroom 291 Undergraduate Library and the 289 Undergraduate Library instructor workstation.

  • Room 291 has 40 computers for student use. The room capacity is 49, including any instructors.
  • Room 289 is a flexible classroom space with seating for up to 25 students.  The room includes some Chromebooks for student use.  Training is required prior to booking a session or teaching in Room 289.  Software listed on this page applies ONLY for the instructor computer in Room 289.  More info on Room 289.

Instructors – Please make sure to test any application(s) you plan to use for instruction at least a few weeks prior to your instruction.  If there are application problems, then please submit an OTRS ticket.  Remember any software updates are done annually at the beginning of the summer.

Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q

  • Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bit Operating System
  • Intel Core i5-7400T at 2.40GHz
  • 8 GB memory (RAM)
  • 22inch monitor
  • Student computers –
    • External speaker is turned off; only headphones work
    • 2 USB ports located within speaker bar on the bottom front of the monitor
    • Computer mounted behind the monitor on the right side
    • Power button within speaker bar and right side behind monitor; either button will turn computer on/off
    • Change monitor height using the monitor arm behind the monitor.  Pulling directly on the monitor to adjust the monitor can be difficult.

Instructional Area

  • Instructor computer –
    • 2 USB ports located within speaker bar on the bottom front of the monitor
    • USB phone, only works when logged into the computer
    • Computer mounted within instructor desk in the cabinet on the left side
    • Power button within speaker bar and on computer within instructor desk; either will turn computer on/off
    • Change monitor height using the monitor arm behind the monitor.  Pulling directly on the monitor to adjust the monitor can be difficult.
  • Projector, ceiling mounted
    • Projector screen controls are on the left side of the button panel
  • Document camera/transparency projector
  • DVD player
  • VHS player
  • Available laptop connection for projection; VGA only
  • Available power outlet on the right side of the button panel
