Open Licensing Task Force

Description

This task force  will determine the range of Library-generated content the Library may legally license openly with a creative commons license. The committee will also make recommendations to EC regarding Library policies and guidelines regarding the assertion of a standard CC-license for this content and recommendations for specific CC-licensing alternatives in cases where exemption from the standard license is necessary.

The task force will also identify an array of known types of content the library may not license openly without the consent of the copyright owners (including library faculty) or other groups. In some cases it may make recommendations for content owned by individuals associated with the library when those individuals wish to adopt CC-licenses.

The committee hopes to facilitate clear guidelines for sharing work created and owned by the Library as an institution, in order to foster wider dissemination of this content and to participate more fully in norms of community sharing with our peer institutions.
