3. Icebreaker activity (15 minutes)

4. Brainstorming for 2020-2021 (20 minutes)

Look at last year’s outstanding projects from last meetings of the 2019-2020 year:

  •  Collaboration with the Student Affairs Assessment Committee
  •  Learn how we can use new Alma Analytics for assessment

Some new ideas for the 2020-2021 year:

4.1 John: Assess patron response to library service during COVID-19 and how we could better respond or meet needs, especially since this service model is ongoing for the foreseeable future

    • Kirsten: How is digital being received on the instructor end and the student end?  Which service changes are working?  Which ones should we make permanent to serve patrons after the pandemic?

4.2 How much of the collection is digital?

      • The digital collection is currently expanded by HathiTrust ETAS, but that’s not a permanent addition to the collection
      • The digital collection is expanding as preservation services digitizes more material by request
      • Some disciplines are more comfortable operating virtually than others

4.3 How much is HathiTrust being accessed?

    • Only a small amount of usage can be tracked and reported, but we could look up actual figures
    • Users may prefer HathiTrust materials that can be accessed without going through the proxy and not use in-house digital copies
    • JSTOR currently no longer requires an institutional membership to access services

4.4 Invite Michael Norman to a LAC meeting now to talk about Alma Analytics now that the Alma migration is complete

4.5 Shuyong: Consider assessing issues with how long requests can take to get to the user and think of possible solutions

4.6 John: Consider audience of students who can’t come to campus

    • Shuyong: Consider audience of students who are in other countries (such as students in China who can’t access Google services)

4.7 Megean: Online classes will likely only become more popular as a result of the pandemic so it’s important assess digital services now

5. Other business/updates
Jen went over Library Assessment updates as listed in agenda.
