  2. Welcome and Introductions
Cindy welcomed the new members, distributed the handouts of members and the minute taker assignments. She mentioned the link to the committee page https://www.library.illinois.edu/staff/committee/diversity-committee/ and shared space on the G://Drive where more information, including the meeting minutes can be found.
  1. Updates and Announcements
    • Diversity Leadership Council Meeting has replaced Inclusive Illinois. There will be a meeting on Thursday with the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
    • Cindy encouraged the Committee members to attend the Celebration Breakfast if they can. They should reserve athttps://forms.illinois.edu/sec/8636133
    • Working with Staff Development and Training Committee. Cindy and Zoe reported that the Staff Development and Training Committee (SDTC) is revamping its priorities. It has 4 (four) subgroups now. The Committee will vote on this. The idea of inviting Jake to attend the Committee meeting was suggested.
    • Answering a question by Krystle, Jessica said that the Project 500 event went very well.
  1. Discussion Items/Fall Programming Ideas
    • Cultural Connections Series.
    • Atoma reported that on his request Antonio Sotomayor wrote an e-mail to Ms. Gioconda Guerra Perez, director of La Casa Latina, asking her to help us find three Latino students who would be willing to give a presentation in October as part of the Cultural Connections series. Not having received a response to the request, Atoma went to la Casa Latina and found out that Ms. Guerra Perez was no longer the director. He met with the interim director who recommended that he contact two people who can help him: Ms. Yun Shi, director of International Education and Mr. Daniel Gonzalez, president of La Casa Students. He met with Ms. Yun last week and will be meeting with Mr. Gonzalez later this week.
    • Laila suggested that we work with iSchool which has more students from foreign countries. She also suggested that we try and find a different venue for the Cultural Connections presentations. The Undergrad Library was suggested and Cindy volunteered to contact David Ward about this
    • Implicit Bias training. No specific activities were reported but the committee agreed to keep talking about the topic. Zoe thought that Jacob had some activities in mind. She suggested that the committee ask him.
    • Look at Additional training from ISSS. Cindy and Zoe showed the content of the ISSS web page and commented briefly on three things that they have done, and asked what else they can do. One suggestion was to advertise what they are doing and get it out to the Library. They will also advertise our events.    More information about the tracks and modules can be found at http://isss.illinois.edu/publications/training.html
  1. Brainstorming for Future Meetings/What Do We Want to Accomplish This Year?
Cindy proposed that when the new Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) is chosen that the Library Diversity Committee invite him or her to attend its meeting and present to us his/her vision. Two other ideas were proposed but no actions items were recommended. These ideas are, educating our SAs about the profession, and Open house/information fair on cultural and resource centers.

Status of ClimateQUAL recommendations.
Cindy provided the background information of the issue and said that the recommendation to create a CQ Steering Team was sent to EC and EC put the responsibility on the Staff Development and Training team. She added that nothing happened since then, but that things have started to move.
