1. Library Assessment Updates (15 min.)

    • Library Assessment Specialist search
    • Library Service Satisfaction Survey in October (open now) and November
    • Holding discussion with AULs + Directors and library assessment units at other institutions
    • Student Learning Outcomes in course catalogs (list of academic programs and the links to SLOs in Box]
    • ACRL Annual Survey is open, due spring 2021. Other subject/functional area surveys (e.g. AAHSL, ARL, ARL Salary Survey) are ongoing or coming soon as well.
    • Library Assessment Conference 2020 fully online/free/recorded – https://www.libraryassessment.org/

 

2. Breakout rooms (20 min.)

  • 2020-2021 project ideas. Key areas:
    • Assessing COVID success and impact
    • Assessing usage of electronic, digitized and HathiTrust/Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS)
    • Alma
    • Assessing online or remote learning
  • Action items 
    • Example: Create a list of frequently used Alma reports by conducting a focus group of library staff; Identify and inventory metrics that can be used to assess electronic resources (vendor), digitized resources or ETAS

 

3. LAC was asked to suggest data collection for the number and attendance of asynchronous instruction 

ACRL definition – An asynchronous presentation can be defined as a recorded online session, tutorial, video, or other interactive educational module created in a digital/electronic format, and includes web-based presentations such as recorded webinars.

  2. Jen went over Library Assessment Updates from agenda:
  • Library Assessment Specialist search
    • Sara Benson is chairing the search committee
    • Peg and Jen are on the search committee
  • Library Service Satisfaction Survey in October (open now) and November
    • Low response rate is expected (mid-semester/pandemic)
    • Change from 3 to 2 surveys to reflect survey population decrease
  • Holding discussion with AULs + Directors and library assessment units at other institutions
    • Interest in collecting more data with emphasis on usable data
  • Student Learning Outcomes in course catalogs (list of academic programs and the links to SLOs in Box
    • 378 academic programs (including grad, undergrad, certifications, online)
    • This list is new, created for accreditation
      • Where is this data from?
        • Multi-year project that happened while preparing for accreditation; each academic unit submitted program learning outcomes to be updated every summer
      • What do we plan to do with this?
        • Right now bringing it to everyone’s attention so we can start thinking about how to plan our actions around these outcomes
    • Future project for GA might be to make a document of all the outcomes
