  1. Agenda review; additions?
  2. Budget Reductions Update
  • Bill Mischo and John Wilkin having discussions
  • 5% in reductions for FY19– approximately $450,000-500,000 out of administrative lines, from retirements, etc.
  • Budget docs are due to campus on January 19
  • Collections is being funded by Undergraduate tuition
  • Some parties have been cut to keep staff – cost of the parties is over 1/3 the cost of a civil service position
  • We are trying to have one nice event and close the library so people can attend – Friday, January 12 at Alice Campbell
    • The USAC group had good response to this date and arrangement
  • There was some positive response to removing the word ‘holiday’ from the party name
  • Cabinet is looking into (budget-conscious) ways to build community and morale
  • Joe Lenkart suggested that the events committee be brought back – said it is good for brainstorming, collegiality and morale
  • Becky Smith suggested that people are informed about approved time, schedule, etc. of the January 19 party
  • Becky Smith suggested that Library Worker’s Appreciation day stays – it is an inexpensive event. Discontinue the “swag” and just have food.
  1. Interim Dean / Interim Provost Update
  • Bill’s last day – January 14
  • John returns – January 15
  • New Provost – January 16
  • John and EC will make a decision about the two AUL vacancies
  1. Annual Recognitions / non-retreat
  2. Printing update
  • Major changes – users will not be billed later to accounts. They must have money on iCard or pay cash.
  • A benefit of the prepay to the students is that their diploma won’t be held for unpaid printing charges
  • Papercut bug fix – users will get notification about prepay at the computer instead of waiting to notify at the printer
  • Refunds go back to the printing pool on the iCard – this is a PCI issue
  • David Ward suggested that there be a “Buy Illini Cash” link in the toolbar
  • Megean O. can add “Buy Illini Cash” link to printing info handouts
  • Suggested that table tents be put out w/ printing directions and info
  • Suggested that there be printing documentation on IT page – Jason talking to heather Murphy and Megean O. about this
  • Complicating factor – Non-students use a different method of payment than students
  1. Round Robin
  • Janelle – UGL- loanable technology – want to streamline the process to checkout items. Currently doing a trial of a new system on LibApps – “Equipment Ed Spaces”.  It is used to reserve spaces and technology.  Credentials – Shibboleth, Illinois email address.  It was suggested that this might be used for reserving 220 spaces.
  • Students don’t like how many platforms they have to log in to. They want streamline/consolidation.
  • Becky – What is involved in moving from DIBS to Spaces?
    • It was suggested that librarians using DIBS get together to look at Spaces
  • Spaces doesn’t tie into Banner; still check out through Voyager
  • Photo contest – Sarah C. – Library sponsored a track – “Learning Spaces” – 45 entries total. Each person could submit up to six photos.  There are already two big phot contests on campus.  The library sponsors all three.  Last year only five entries for Undergraduate contest.  I was suggested to reach out to the Live & Learn photography group.
  • BIS – Becky S. – Business FAQs called “Best Bets” – adding more topics and screenshots to make it richer.
  • Library emergency page – Jason S. – The purpose – if campus goes offline, there is a place that will not crash that you can stay informed during an emergency. It was suggested that the quick links be more accessible – on a side panel/ displayed rather than under a link.
  • I logos – start date December 1
