Approve October Minutes:  Approved

Liaison Reports and Updates:

Administration:  No report.

Administrative Council:  November meeting canceled.

Area Studies:  Did not meet.

Arts & Humanities:  Our Chair is also on EC and said that EC is working on how to create an open EC meeting model, talking about LCIT and second part of building project, and the roll of specialized faculty (there was a note about specialized faculty having more protections than APs).  In Collection Development Committee they discussed the DEIA collection-gap filling project and how that might work better – suggestions about how items might be deselected rather than having to take a blanket group of items, as well as how items might be located to different libraries (ie. put in Main Stacks v. in a particular unit).  Also discussed new models for desiderata with leftover year-end monies. We are also looking at GA training and how to give a broader view to our GAs in the division.

Central Public Services:  No report.

  • Scholarly Commons –Loanable Technology and spaces https://www.library.illinois.edu/sc/technology/loanable-technology/
    • General Loanable Tech items: up to 10 days, depending on availability in Main Library 306.

    • The Media Commons Self-Use Media Studios are unstaffed and available on a first-come, first-serve booking basis using the Libcal reservation system.

Law:  No report.

Life Sciences:  PSED/LSD met together this month.  Discussion on collections/budget and Faculty shared information about their research.

  • ACES – Has had more patrons and the study spaces have been nice. More problems with food, and alcohol.

Physical Sciences: PSED/LSD met together this month.  See Life Sciences above.

Res Hall:  Busy with craft and game nights.  We had a second trivia night.  Would like to do this again in Spring semester.  Collaborating with units for build a book event on reading day.

Social Sciences:  No report.

Special Collections: Discussion on the impending move to the former UGL space. Questions about funding the division providing support/encouraging administration for temporary funding for staff to assist in the move.  More foot traffic on third floor (loanable tech).
